Possible causes

Defective temperature sensor
Broken or disconnected sensor wire
Actual battery overheating from overcharging
Corroded sensor connector

Recommended actions

Verify physical connection of sensor on battery post
Measure sensor resistance (NTC/PTC)
Check if battery is physically hot
Replace sensor if reading is erroneous
